The Tradition Behind the Apples

Take a Walk Through Art, History, and Community

For nearly 50 years, the Unicoi County Apple Festival has brought the streets of downtown Erwin to life each fall. What began in 1978 as a small hometown gathering has grown into one of the Southeast’s most beloved fall festivals, welcoming more than 150,000 visitors for a weekend filled with arts, crafts, music, and food. It remains a celebration of community, Appalachian heritage, and the spirit of Erwin.
